SAFETY RULES AND GUIDELINES

YOU MUST BE, AND HEREBY CERTIFY THAT YOU ARE, AT LEAST 18 YEARS OLD BEFORE YOU PARTICIPATE IN ANY TRAINING PROVIDED BY The D.A.M. F.O.O.L.S. YOU MUST ALSO BE, AND HEREBY CERTIFY THAT YOU ARE, A SD CERTIFIED FIREFIGHTER OR CURRENTLY ENROLLED IN A SD FIREFIGHTER CERTIFICATION COURSE HAVING RECEIVED AND SATISFACTORILY COMPLETED TRAINING TO MEET THE MINIMUM JOB PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS FOR FIRE FIGHTER 1 IN NFPA 1001 RELATED TO THE FOLLOWING SUBJECTS: SAFETY, FIRE BEHAVIOR, PORTABLE EXTINGUISHERS, PPE, LADDERS, HOSE, APPLIANCES, STREAMS, OVERHAUL, WATER SUPPLY, VENTILATION, FORCIBLE ENTRY & BUILDING CONSTRUCTION AND YOU MUST BE COMFORTABLE WITH THE USE OF SCBA. YOU MUST CAREFULLY READ, FULLY UNDERSTAND, AND STRICTLY FOLLOW THESE SAFETY RULES. FAILURE TO DO SO COULD LEAD TO YOUR DEATH OR SERIOUS BODILY INJURY.

The following rules and guidelines apply to all training provided by The D.A.M. F.O.O.L.S, including that part of the training referred to as “The D.A.M. Fire Conference” (collectively, "the Training"). These rules and guidelines have been carefully thought out and have a single purpose: YOUR SAFETY AND WELL BEING. You must take the time and effort to follow them carefully. The rules and guidelines are as follows:

1. You must be in very good physical condition to take and participate in the Training, which includes, without limitation, the muscular and cardiovascular condition needed to safely withstand and successfully complete the strenuous activities that accompany firefighting and the Training. IF YOU ARE NOT IN VERY GOOD PHYSICAL CONDITION, YOU MAY NOT TAKE THE TRAINING. For example, you may not take the Training if you have health problems such as heart conditions, high blood pressure, emphysema, or diabetes. These health problems, among others, can be very dangerous when your body is put under the additional stress that can be experienced during the Training. As an additional example, participating in the Training while suffering from a respiratory infection could cause heart damage or worse.

a. If you have any questions or doubts as to whether you are in very good physical condition, you must consult your physician and ask his or her advice before participating in the Training. The work load and heavy clothing associated with the Training can cause, among other things, high output cardiac failure.

2. Good hydration is imperative because of the body fluid loss that you will experience while training. Drink plenty of fluids, and continue to replace your losses throughout the day. Mineral water is the recommended liquid of choice. You are responsible for keeping yourself adequately hydrated during the Training.

3. It is important for all participants in the Training to be able to hear instructions provided throughout the Training. Because it is difficult to talk and be understood
4. during various stages of the Training, you must keep unnecessary talking to a minimum so that everyone will be able to hear. Should you need to leave the Training at any time, you must first notify the instructor or at minimum your partner.

5. All of your safety gear and clothing MUST be in good working condition (that is, it must be of the quality and condition that a reasonable firefighter would deem adequate for use and protection in live firefighting situations). Your safety clothing must fit comfortably.

6. You must, at all time, listen to and abide by the instructions provided by the Training instructors.
1.
6. The foregoing list of rules and guidelines is not exhaustive, and any additional rules or guidelines provided to you by The D.A.M. F.O.O.L.S. or the Training instructors, whether orally or in writing, must be treated with equal importance.

Keep it SAFE.
By signing below, I acknowledge and attest that I have carefully read these SAFETY RULES AND GUIDELINES, that I fully understand them, that I fully understand the crucial importance of complying with them, and that I will strictly follow them, along with any other rules or guidelines provided to me by The D.A.M. F.O.O.L.S. or the Training instructors..
